I have been married for 20 years and we have 2 boys, ages 13 and 8. They are both very active in sports and we are very involved in the activities at our church. My life revolves around my family and I am so very proud of our boys and their many accomplishments.
I am a nurse and love my job. Being in this position, I have been able to tell several people about the Essure procedure, which gives me great pleasure.
I had used birth control pills for about 12 years. I had 2 IUD's put in, which caused me a lot of cramping and increased blood flow, so I had them removed. My husband and I had decided our family was complete, when one of my patients told me about the Essure procedure. I decided to make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Snyder.
In the consultation, Dr. Synder explained everything quite clearly to me and I decided Essure was right for me. I went to his office for the procedure and the whole thing took approximately 45 minutes. There was no general anesthesia, only the local numbing of the cervix. The actual procedure was slightly uncomfortable, but bearable. At the end of the procedure, they gave me a maxi pad to wear and told me to go home and take it easy. Well, I felt so good that I went shopping. I continued to take Ibuprofen and by the end of the 2nd day I had stopped spotting and cramping.
In the next three months I had normal periods and felt great. I went and had the HSG done at the hospital, again with no anesthesia, and the whole process took about 10 minutes. They basically put dye into my uterus to make sure my tubes were blocked. The procedure was successful! Again, I only took Ibuprofen and went back to work right after the HSG.
I feel the Essure procedure was a great success for me and my family and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I have continued and will continue to let my friends, family and my patients know about the Essure procedure. I have also let the doctors that I work with know about the procedure so they can tell their patients.
