The Essure Confirmation Test

The Essure Confirmation Test is very important. It confirms that:

In step 3 of the Essure procedure, the Essure Confirmation Test is administered, confirming the inserts are in place and your fallopian tubes are blocked
  • The inserts are placed correctly
  • Your fallopian tubes are blocked
  • Pregnancy is permanently prevented

Three months after you’ve had the Essure inserts placed, your doctor will administer the Essure Confirmation Test. The test uses contrast dye and a special type of x-ray to confirm that the barrier has formed and the Essure inserts are in place.

Once you get confirmation from your doctor, you can start depending on Essure to prevent pregnancy.

Remember, you must continue to use another form of birth control until you receive confirmation from your doctor that you can start relying on Essure for birth control.
