Does insurance cover Essure?

Good news! Essure is now available to many women at no cost.

As of August 2012, most insurance plans are required to provide women with all methods of birth control, including Essure, without copays, deductibles or out of pocket costs when their plan renews. This is part of the Women’s Preventive Services provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

As all plans are different and renew at different times, call your health insurance company before having the procedure to verify your insurance benefits.

Here’s how:

Call your insurance company's customer service or benefits phone number listed on your health insurance card.

Ask if the Essure procedure, which is code 58565 (Hysteroscopic Sterilization), is covered without copays, deductibles or out of pocket costs under the ACA Preventive Services Act. If Essure is not currently covered, ask to verify your insurance benefits and when your plan renews.

If you don’t have insurance, the Essure FlexPay Plan makes it easy to fit Essure into your budget.
